Maaaaaaan…summer. One the one hand, its blazin hot and you need to take two showers a day, on the other hand, EVERYTHING AWESOME happens during the summer. There’s shows, rooftop parties, barbecues, cracked open fire hydrants, and the constant singing of ice cream trucks. So you throw on sunscreen, practice your day drinkin’, stock up on clean underwear and get out there. That’s what we’ve been doing, and so far its been amazing. Its been one of the hottest summers either of us have spent in New York (seriously, does any city do HEAT like New York?), and also one of the most eventful.
Lets see…what happened so far… there was BOS, hanging with friends in PA, tons of ICING, a ridiculously awesome Milwaukee wedding (everyone married beer! it was great), some trips to Kentucky, Michelle’s new website, the Predators premiere (more on THAT later), and a bunch of shows and other such craziness. So far, its been amazing and its nowhere near over with.
Most recently, we just spent the weekend in Chicago with my college buddy Sam and his fiance. We went to 2 days of the Pitchfork festival which, despite being hot as blazes, was one of the better music festivals we’ve ever been to. Two notable highlights were Robyn (I’d call it “life-changing”, but that just makes Michelle look at me all weird) and BIG BOI, one half of Outkast, doing his first solo show. Given his arsenal of brilliant Outkast verses and all the amazing stuff off his new album Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son Of Chico Dusty (seriously go buy it now), he had enough ammo to make sure every song was an absolute classic. We were able to film some of his set…yes thats us jumping and screaming like idiots. Check it out along with Robyn’s performance of “Dancing on My Own” right here.
Other than that, we’re setting up a booth on The Canon Logic‘s rooftop this Thursday night. Josh from The Canon Logic has always been a big supporter of our work, and was cool enough to invite us to do a booth at one of their awesome new rooftop parties. Put together as a meeting of the minds these parties have a bunch of cool people, artists, musicians playing live, and the most tasty, creative food from Josh (who chronicles his food adventures on his blog Y-I-EAT-N). It is this Thursday, and you can expect some sweet photos from the evening soon!
Whew, that’s about it for now. Stay cool out there, and if you are currently somewhere cold, get yer asses out here. You can sleep on our couch.
